Pierre & Paul: Avalanche written by Caroline Adderson and illustrated by Alice Carter is the first children’s book I’m reviewing on NetGalley, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the content.
There are so many aspects to this book, starting with how it fluidly switches between English and French, this is the perfect book for French Immersion children or any Canadian child for that matter. Not only is this book bilingual, but the pictures represent multiculturalism, which is always refreshing.
The story follows two boys, Pierre and Paul, that while building a sandwich, end up on a much larger adventure. The boys discuss what foods they like and which they don’t and encourages children to express their tastes and take the dive into trying something new. This story reminds children that eating healthy is important and learning how to put food together and create your own meals can be fun and enlightening.
So whether your child is a picky eater, a lover of adventures, or learning French, this book is a delightful read. The illustrations are detailed to the point of food labels being in both French and English. I’m very pleased to be giving this book a 5 Star rating!
The books listed were sent to me by the publisher through NetGalley. Only books I’ve rated as 3 stars or higher make it onto my blog. Thank you to all the wonderful authors, illustrators and publishers for allowing me to review their books pre-publication. I hope their beautiful words and pictures inspire all the children they reach.
